Kyiv – Ukrainian military officials have announced the recapture of another village in the recently started counter-offensive. The village of Storozhov was liberated by the 35th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar announced that Ukraine’s flag has been raised over the village of Storozhov in Donetsk, adding that all the Ukrainian land will be liberated.

Ukrainian troops had recently taken control of 3 neighboring small villages, namely Blahodatne, Makarivka, and Neskuchne, located south of Velyka Novosilka.

The Russian defense ministry hasn’t confirmed its troop’s retreat from the area. Russian authorities, meanwhile, have said their troops have largely held their ground along the more than 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line along southern and eastern Ukraine.

The Ukrainian counteroffensive started a week ago. Ukraine currently facing a humanitarian and environmental crisis as the Dnieper River dam collapsed last week, causing flooding that led to mass evacuations and at least 14 deaths. Both Russia and Ukraine held responsible each other for an attack on Dnieper Dam.
