The state company Transgaz is about to take over the national natural gas transportation system of the Republic of Moldova, only about six years after it took over, by winning the privatization procedure, the company Vestmoldtransgaz.

Romanian officials are expected on Monday, September 4, at the headquarters of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) of the Republic of Moldova to formally conclude the agreement with representatives of the operator in Moscow.

On the Romanian side, it is about Vestmoldtransgaz, controlled by Transgaz, and Moldovagaz, whose majority shareholder is Gazprom.

On the Romanian side, the contract will be signed by the director of Vestmoldtransgaz, Liviu Duminića, with the approval of the Transgaz Board of Directors.

The transfer becomes official two weeks after the deal is initialed.

“The contract is signed and then, according to the legislation there, starting on September 19, we take over the operation, dispatching, marketing and exploitation of the national transport system in the Republic of Moldova, in its entirety”, stated the general director of Transgaz.

A key element of the negotiations between the two companies concerns the Transnistrian region, a territory that, in theory, is not regulated by the Moldovan authorities.

“In Transnistria, ANRE from Moldova cannot regulate, being a special situation, and here comes the negotiation between Transgaz / Vestmoldtransgaz and Moldovagaz, with the Ministry of Energy from the Republic of Moldova, with ANRE from the Republic of Moldova”, confirmed the general director of Transgaz for Thought.
