Jakarta, Indonesia – Anak Krakatau volcano island located in Indonesia’s Sunda Strait between the main Java and Sumatra islands erupted again and emitting ash as high as 3 kilometers.
Indonesia’s Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center told that the volcano has erupted at least seven times since Friday.
According to the available data this is longest eruption since the 2018 explosive collapse of a part of the island that also caused a tsunami along the coast of Java and Sumatra. Since then second-highest alert on a scale of four has remained in place.
No casualties have been reported so far because of the eruption and no evacuation orders have been issued by authorities. The closest settlement is almost 16 kilometers away from the volcano.
